How we build pet supply buying guides
CheckPet helps pet owners narrow a crowded product list by measuring fit first: pet size and life stage, product dimensions, intended use, and practical safety checks.
Who creates our guides
Guides are prepared and maintained by the CheckPet Editorial Team. We research product specifications, current listings, manufacturer directions, and relevant public guidance. We are not veterinarians, and our pages are not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or an individual feeding plan.
Our selection method
- Start with the buyer’s fit requirement. We identify the measurements, life stage, use case, material, or compatibility details that can rule a product in or out.
- Check the exact product. Before publication, we verify that each Amazon link resolves to a live
/dp/ASINproduct page and compare the current title, size, formula, or model with the wording in our guide. - Compare meaningful roles. Alternatives are included for a distinct need—such as life stage, size, format, or use case—not merely to make a longer list.
- State limitations. We include “best when,” “skip if,” sizing, setup, and safety notes where they affect the decision.
We do not claim hands-on testing unless a page explicitly documents it. We do not copy Amazon star ratings, promise inventory, or publish prices that may become inaccurate. Product availability, packaging, ingredients, and specifications can change, so readers should confirm the live listing and label before ordering.
Sources and health boundaries
For nutrition and health-adjacent statements, we prefer primary or recognized sources such as AAFCO, FDA, CDC, WSAVA, and manufacturer instructions. Sources used for a guide appear on that page. Product-selection language does not diagnose allergies, disease, obesity, behavioral conditions, or other medical problems.

Each buying guide displays its most recent editorial update and product-link verification date. Substantive corrections are made directly on the affected guide.
